The words of the Bible

I John 3

The children of God

See what love the Father has given us that we should be called children of God; and we are. Therefore the world knoweth us not, because he knew him not.

Beloved, now we are children of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be. But we know that when he appears we shall be like him; because as it is, we shall see.

And every man that hath this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.

Everyone who lives in sin also lawlessness, for sin is lawlessness.

And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Whosoever abideth in him does not sin; all that sinning has not seen him nor knows him.

The children of God and the children of the wicked

Little children, let no man deceive you; It that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous;

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.

Whosoever is born of God does not habitually sin; because God's seed remains in him, and he can not sin, because he is born of God.

In this are manifest the children of God and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

The love of the brethren

For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love each other,

Not as Cain, who was of the wicked one, and slew his brother. And why kill him? Because his works were evil and his brother's righteous.

My brothers, Marvel not if the world hates you.

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. Who does not love remains in death.

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer; and ye know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us; and we must give our lives for the brethren.

But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and closes his heart against him, how dwelleth the love of God?

Little children, let us love not in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

By this we know that we are of the truth, and before him assure our hearts;

For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

Beloved, if our heart condemn us, we have confidence toward God;

and whatever we ask him, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments and do what is pleasing in his sight.

And his commandment is this, that believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another as he commanded us.

And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and God in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
