SALMOS 90
The weakness of man and the providence of God Prayer of Moses the man of God
Lord, you have been our refuge from generation to generation.
Before the mountains were born, or if you had formed the earth and the world, yea, from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.
You bring man down to the dust, and say, 'Come back, you children of men!'
For a thousand years in your eyes are like the day of yesterday that passed, and as a watch of the night.
You take them as by a torrent; They are like a sleep; In the morning they are like the herb that grows;
in the morning it grows and blossoms; In the evening it is cut down and dried.
For we are consumed by thy wrath, and by thy wrath we are troubled.
Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, in the light of thy face our hidden sins.
For all our days are passing by in your indignation; Our years end like a sigh.
The length of our life is seventy years; And if some of them by their robustness come to eighty years, their measure is wearisome and angry; Because it passes quickly, and we fly.
Who knows the power of your wrath? And thy wrath, according to the fear due thee?
Teach us to number our days in such a way that we will reach a wise heart.
Return to us, Lord! Until when? Have mercy on your servants.
Deliver us early in the morning with thy lovingkindness, that we may rejoice and rejoice all our days.
Rejoice in the days when thou hast afflicted us, and in the years wherein we have seen evil.
Let thy work appear to thy servants, and thy glory to his children.
Let the grace of the Lord our God be upon us; And confirm the work of our hands upon us; Yea, confirm the work of our hands.
