PSALMS 85

Based on the past deliverances, the people of God asks for the deliverance of the present afflictions

Psalm for the chief singer among the sons of Korah

1 You showed favor to your land, Lord; Thou hast brought back the captives of Jacob.

2 You have forgiven the iniquity of your people; You covered all your sins.

3 Thou hast withdrawn all thy wrath; Thou hast refined the fierceness of thine anger.

4 Restore us, O God of our salvation, and let thy indignation cease against us.

5 Will you be angry with us forever? Will you extend your wrath to all generations?

6 Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

7 Show us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.

8 I will listen to what God the Lord says; For he will speak peace to his people, and to his saints, as long as they do not return to foolishness.

9 Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Goodness and faithfulness meet together; Justice and peace kissed.

11 Faithfulness springs from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven.

12 The Lord will give what is good, and our land will bear its fruit.

13 Justice will go before him, marking the way with his footprints.
